Audition for Aladdin – A musical Spectacular!

August 4, 2010 by jamie · Leave a Comment

This is a opportunity of a lifetime – the chance to relive a classic Disney movie in real life…Aladdin! A Broadway theatrical production of this award winning classic is about to become a reality. And they need actors! More specifically, the two main roles. That’s right, you can audition for Aladdin or Jasmine themselves and be the star of this show! Almost everyone has seen the Disney production of Aladdin (who doesn’t love Genie?!?) and now you might just get to be in it!

This amazing musical spectacular will be performed live at the Disney Adventure park in Anaheim, California starting around December. The show will run for about 7 months – the whole time with you as the star! If you are hired as an actor, your contract will start in October and last until the end of the show. Don’t live in California? No worries. If you are really good they will offer relocation assistance…which means they pay for you to move out there!

Feeling nervous about your auditioning skills? Don’t worry. You can check out previous posts to learn all about how to impress casting directors. Just remember to be calm. If you are nervous, it is sure to show. And that is the very last thing you need.

So if you are at least 18 and live in New York, NY (or at least have a way to get there), start prepping! You only have until September 2, 2010, to prepare for this amazing audition, so you better get started. Be sure to watch all the Aladdin movies with your friends! Below are some more details about this awesome opportunity!

Audition Date: Thursday, September 2, 2010

Audition Time: 10:00 AM but sign in begins at 9:30 (so don’t be late!)

Location: Ripley-Grier Studios
520 8th Ave 16th floor
New York, NY 10018

Role Requirements:
Aladdin – Male, 18-22, 5′7″ to 5′11″, Baritone/tenor, good physique
A youthful teenager who is clever and has street smarts. He survives by himself out in Agrabah, doing what he has to in order to get by.

Jasmine – Female, 18-22, 5′2″ to 5′6″, Soprano, Ethnic background
A beautiful princess who is tired of living a sheltered life in her castle. She is restless and determined to experience something new.

Prepare: Have 16 bars of a musical theatre selection to sing. Be sure to bring your sheet music with you. Include your resume and head shots for review. If you are unsure about what makes a good head shot, watch this video about getting a head shot casting directors will fall in love with!

You can get more information at the official Disney website. They are always looking for actors, but rarely the lead roles. This is your chance to get out there and show them what you are made of! Break a leg!
