What are American Idol Auditions Really Like?

January 31, 2010 by Julie · Leave a Comment

american-idol-logoIf you watch American Idol then you are aware that at every audition across the United States there are stadiums full of people. Do all these Idol hopefuls get to audition in front of the judges? No.

A girl from Vancouver, WA, who has been to American Idol auditions 3 times shared what an audition is really like. Her and her dad feel it’s important for everyone to know what the process is all about.

Her father says that “something like 10,000 people show up at each tryout site, and many viewers illogically think they all get in front of the celebrity judges. But the show promotes this idea when it shows contestants that can’t carry a tune.”

He continues and talks about Simon Cowell saying “he gives that face like he’s being forced to listen to this. No. He’s listening to a bad singer on purpose. They perpetuate this myth with camerawork and editing.”

Simon, Randy, Kara and the guest judges are nowhere near the actual auditions. He says “But that’s what they want you to believe,” Jim says. “Really, Simon and those guys come back weeks later.”

Interesting.

Have any of you auditioned for American Idol?
